Show notes - Episode 488: Melting Consultant LLC

Morning, friends!

This may be the quickest I've edited a full episode. I had to go into the office on Tuesday, so time was not on my side, but we made it work! New music, mail, and more. Let's go!

New music from glimmers (5:40), fan mail on awkward wedding invites (9:59) and saving malls (24:05), and how to fix the Home Run Derby (37:31).

Many thanks to our friends for the tune! Stream/buy Bad Influence here and tell em Pat said hey!

Mail: awkward wedding invites

This is a weird one, for sure. Divorce is always tough and figuring out friendships without certain people involved is tricky. It sounds like our pal doesn't want this friendship to continue, so I hope everyone can get out of it without too much negativity.

Mail: how to save malls

It's so funny that this letter came in right after the mrs and I were discussing this. The sooner that mall management comes around to adjusting what's in the building, the better off everyone involved will be. It would take a lot of time and money, but I think bringing family fun center-type places back around would be so beneficial for these former retail conglomerates.

Pat fixes the Home Run Derby

I love the Derby. It is one of my favorite events of the year. I even really liked the timed format when it debuted. But the last two years of split-screen watching were not fun. I liked the pitch limit, so keep rolling with that. Do it up next year this way:

First Round: 40 pitches. 10 outs. Top 4 (of 8) HR totals advance.
Second Round: 35 pitches. 7 outs. Top 2 HR totals advance.
Final Round: 30 pitches. 5 outs. Most HR wins.

You can still award bonus outs for longer dingers, but that could basically be the format and I think a lot of people would be happy with it.

And that, as we say, is that! Thanks for coming along this week. I hope you are staying cool or warm or whatever temperature is comfortable for you. Come on back next week for another tune and more stuff that tumbles from my brain. Until then, don't do anything I wouldn't do!

Crap open a cold one!
